If anything, it decreases tactics, because now instead of 9 directions to travel, you've got 6.

No idea what the "tactual" stuff is supposed to be about in re Hexes instead of squares. I have no idea what the "cultural radius is." Civ 4 seems to have this "fat cross" (not my wording but yeah) set area you can gather resources from. interesting at first glance expandable (buy the square) city radius (the area of land around a city you that you can get resources from). I really hope it has "mountain ranges," as in, ridgelines etc. Really it's mostly the rounded mountaintops and roads that make it seem that way at first glance. Has anybody noticed that Civ 4 seems somewhat cartoonish compared to civ 5, or am I missing something. Or $50 for Civ 5 and Gods and Kings as an expansion. I think it's $30 for four games (Civ 4, with expansions beyond the sword, warlords, and colonization). In my opinion the Next War mod was excellent, and provided a lot of end-game content. I'm not sure if your version would be the same as mine, but I got Civ 4 with all the expansions on one disc and it came with a few mods. I would definitely recommend Civ 4 over Civ 5, especially if you have Beyond the Sword.

It seemed to limited, but it could have just been because I was younger when I played it. Colonization was almost a game of its own, and I didn't really enjoy it. Warlords basically expands on the original Civ 4, and Beyond the Sword is basically and expansion of Warlords. Which expansions? As far as I know, there are three: Warlords, Beyond the Sword, and Colonization. It made it harder to amass a ridiculously large army to massacre one city. I don't remember if they could stack in cities, but I'm almost certain they couldn't on regular tiles. One major disadvantage I found was not being able to stack units. The hex tiles were supposed to increase strategy, but I didn't notice much. I didn't get nearly as much enjoyment out of it compared to Civ 4. I got Civ 5 a couple months after it came out, but I only ever played it for a few hours. I played Civ 4 a lot when I was a kid, and recently my friends and I were playing it again.
